Egypt  - Edfu

Edfu, Egypt is the location of one of the most completely preserved temples in Egypt

Statue of Horus - Temple of Horus at Edfu, EgyptOn the course of most Egyptian Cruises, Edfu is about 60 miles / 100km upstream from Luxor. The site of the Temple of Horus at Edfu is one of the best preserved in Egypt. A fantastic great pylon, exterior walls, courtyards and meeting halls all in place. The hyrogliphs on the walls depict almost 200 years of pharoic history from around 235 BC to 57 BC when the temple was completed in the reign of Queen Cleopatra VII.

Temple of Horus at EdfuBuilt from huge sandstone blocks, this Ptolemaic temple was constructed over the site of a smaller temple, oriented east to west, facing towards the river. The later structure faces north to south and leaves the ruined remains of the older pylon to be seen on the east side of the first courtyard.
